I've been with my mate for eight years, and we've been married for two, and I love him with all of my heart. He's smart, funny, driven, handsome, and still makes me weak in my knees.
Now that we've gotten that out of the way, let me also say that sometimes he does things that annoy me. And I know that sometimes I do things that annoy him. Not big, horrible things that really matter in the long run, but more like his beard shavings in the sink, or my sixteen different bottles of shampoo or conditioner in the tub. If you are in or have been in a relationship, you know that it's a give and take. But why shouldn't we share our annoyances with others who are experiencing them also?
Thus, BerateYourMate was born.
Seat left up for the 19th time this week? Berate him. Razor dull from her shaving her legs? Berate her. Left your wet clothes in the dryer all afternoon so that they smelled like rotten arse? Berate him. And do it publicly.
It's all in good fun. At the end of the day, we love our mates and they love us. Relationships take work and compromise, but there's no reason we shouldn't point out a few tiny annoyances along the way.
